My Story

I’m Monica Schneider Tristán, and I feel deeply honored to walk alongside individuals and families during one of life’s most sacred times. My journey into end-of-life work began years ago when I witnessed my grandmother’s peaceful passing. Only a few months later, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of my brother to suicide. Those experiences shaped me profoundly and opened my heart to the importance of being present, compassionate, and gentle at the end of life.

Since then, I have devoted myself to this calling as both a hospice volunteer and now more recently as a certified end-of-life doula. Over the past two years, I have sat at the bedsides of those who are dying, holding space for their journeys, and supporting their loved ones with care and compassion.

I believe that every person deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported as they approach death—and that families, too, deserve guidance, comfort, and reassurance. My role is to be a steady, caring presence, helping you navigate this tender time with dignity, compassion, and love.

The name The Last Companion reflects what I hold most dear: walking beside you as a companion, not a director—offering gentle guidance while honoring your choices, your stories, and your love. For me, this work is not just service—it’s a heartfelt commitment to help each person and family find peace, connection, and meaning at the end of life. Overall, I firmly believe that all humans should have access to better end of life care and that we are all deserving of a meaningful end of life experience.

Please reach out to me at anytime throughout your journey. I am here for you.
